All Hallows Eve...

That all time famous evening is upon us... All Hallows Eve (aka Halloween.)  In the creative spirit let's step outside the box

Glitter Pumpkins!?! Just another reason in a long line as to why I love FURBISH!!
Jaime Meares is so talented in her creative capabilities.  If you haven't checked out her blog I Suwanee you are missing out.  Girl is talented!

Get your drill bits out

Time to whip out the paint and get creative...  I'm foreseeing the classic black cat or maybe the witch with the crooked nose.  However this faux bois pattern is FAB!

Simple but fun with a big impact

 Time to PARTY!

Now get your creative juices flowing for all those goblin and witches that will be walking your neighborhood streets on Thursday begging for candy.  You're never to old to carve, paint, or drill a pumpkin!

Been too long...

Well after my year long hiatus I am back! There are many exciting things I can't wait to share with you - including our new name - House of Lawrence. But for now all I'm going to say is WOW -

Check out the work by NYC based Interior Designer Tara Seawright!  I love her use of bold yet mainly neutral pattern.  Her rooms look like you could walk right in, slip off you kicks and cuddle up with a cup of Joe.  The art of designing a room that you can actually live in - It's a lot harder than you think...

Can't believe I forgot....

My favorite foyer photo
Console - sleek and simple
Round Mirror - breaks up all the horizontal lines
Artwork - pops of color to brighten the space
Grasscloth wall covering - adds texture

Love it, love it, love it!!

Foyer

Foyers... The first impression of your home to guests.  This room sets the tone for how your home is perceived and therefore the most important room in your house.
Formal vs. casual? Colorful vs Neutral?  Traditional vs contemporary?  Paper vs paint?
Oh the options!

I'm in the process of working on our foyer and I have a few ideas in mind.  I have a beautiful console that my husband made for me as well as a circular mirror.  Everything else has to go...
I'll be sure to keep you posted...

This past Sunday I needed some retail therapy so I hit up one my favorite places... Sleepy Poet -
A huge warehouse filled with multiple booths ranging from antiques to vintage clothing.  As I was strolling through the aisles I stumbled along some things that I thought were fun - See below.

And this old sign is just plain fun!  Makes me want to head to the beach right now.

Coulda, Shoulda, Woulda

Since our return from Paris I have been trying to be frugal... key word "trying".  Every time I decide not to spend money is the exact time when pieces walk into my life that I can't give up.  Why is that?? Shall I dare to call it fate??  It's probably more along the line of wanting what you can't have.
If my name were in the dictionary it would have that exact description beside...
Mary Mac  "wants what she can't have"
(along with creative, fun, mad skills on the dance floor, etc.)

I heard a saying today, If you love it and you can afford it then get it.
There is nothing worse that having the coulda, shoulda, woulda feeling.
Believe me - I know from experience.

Miss Me??

Hello ~  I feel that I owe an explanation for my long absence.  Honestly, I thought about giving up blogging... it had become more of a morning job before I took off at 8:20 for my "real job" (you know the place you go to from 9-5 : M-F to bring in the bacon.)  Trying to find inspiration three times a week is hard work!!  I thought about focusing more on the Showroom I work for - but that felt like cheating.  I do participate in buying merchandise for the showroom but in reality it is someone else's dream come true.  Don't get me wrong... I LOVE my job.  It is amazing to work in the Design Industry for such wonderful visionaries with great taste and big hearts!  But this blog is supposed to be a way for me to express my own creative being.

That being said, I'm going to give Boddrick's Roost another go with better posts but less often.
